4th, 5th “English Chit Chat” Program with Vietnam University

4th theme for the virtual exchange with Vietnam University was ‘family’. We discussed about our own families, such as family size and family’s importance to us. Also, we talked about likeable roles of parents and family, how divorce can influence children, and the responsibility that people must have about their own family. Most of our opinion was similar, that family must protect children until they get old enough, but families nowadays are decreasing in their sizes.

Because it was our last session with Vietnam this semester, we had free talking time for the 5th meeting. We freely talked about our school life, hobbies, favorite movies and dramas, dream jobs. We also recommended where to go and what to eat when we have a chance to visit Korea and Vietnam. Everyone enjoyed the discussion.

2nd, 3rd “English Chit Chat” Program with Vietnam University

In the second meeting, we discussed the questions about money. It was interesting that some students from Vietnam had actually experienced works to earn money themselves because they were consenting adults, while we are not. Therefore, we mainly talked about our consumption habits. Also, we introduced Korean Won to Vietnamese students, and we were introduced Vietnamese money by them. It was a valuable chance to get to know various senses of economy.

Our third meeting’s theme was ‘happiness’. We talked about our happiness, whether we think ourselves as happy people or not. We found out that living in a new environment may make a person unhappy and stressful, while getting used to it makes a person happy and comfortable. Also, many students said that going on a trip with families or friends and having a good conversation with people makes them happy.

1st “English Chit Chat” Program with Vietnam University

We have done our first meeting with Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications of Technology University. The session started with introducing ourselves, especially about our name, age, countries, schools, etc. After a period of time getting to know each other, we moved on to talking about personal, national problems and advices. Problems such as relationship, exams, jobs were suggested.

After discussion, we found out that Vietnamese students are also stressful because of study and exams, and usually get advices from close friends or family members. We were able to realize that people’s thoughts and lifes are not really different even though we live in different countries.
